Ice Fishing: Today, the ice was pretty thick and it was really neat to go for a walk on Bantam Lake, Connecticut where I got to see a bunch of folks ice fishing. Each fisherman had about 15 holes carved into the ice, each with baited poles and flags that raise when a fish is caught.

Old school versus new school: The two augers in the pictures below are what’s used to drill holes in the ice. For several reasons (make less noise, smell less gasoline-y, etc…), many people prefer to use the hand drill, but there are gas powered ones as well.
Update: Farmville 2 just launched a quest that is similar to ice fishing – so much fun – I love this game!
