Apple picking season has officially begun in New England. I was at Roger’s Orchard this past weekend, selecting choice apples right off the trees. It’s a nice day out, doing something together with friends or a significant other, and its also gratifying when you have a chance to take right from the branches!
I came up with an easy recipe that combines convenient crescent roll dough with a spiced apple filling for a homemade appeal.
The apple flavor is simply wonderful.

What You Need:
(Makes: about 2 dozen)
1/3 cup of water
1/3 cup of butter
1 & 1/3 cups of sugar, divided
2 tubes (8 ounces each) of refrigerated crescent rolls
3 cups of tart apples, peeled and finely chopped
1 teaspoon of apple pie spice
What to Do:
STEP 1) In a saucepan, combine the water, butter and 1 cup of sugar; cook over medium heat until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
STEP 2) Unroll each tube of crescent roll dough into a rectangle; seal seams and perforations.
STEP 3) In a small bowl combine the apples, pie spice and remaining sugar; sprinkle over dough to within 1 inch of edges. Roll up, jelly-roll style, starting with a long side. Cut into 1 inch rolls; place in a greased 13x9x1 inch baking dish. Pour syrup over rolls.
STEP 4) Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla or apple pie flavored ice cream (optional).
STEP 5) Enjoy!
