When I first saw the amazing textures and light-catching fabrics in Carmen Marc Valvo’s 2014 Fall/Winter runway show, I immediately thought of extremely powerful, but sexy women, like Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift (who btw totally rocked that killer chain mail dress by Gucci at the Grammy Awards, right?). But, I digress…
With the season 4 premiere for Game of Thrones approaching (April 6th, aren’t you excited?), I also couldn’t help but imagine the entire female cast wearing this collection. In fact, I think that Carmen Marc Valvo would be the perfect designer to dress the ladies for their promotional appearances!
With chain mail accents and even a dragon-skin, dress (Ok, technically it’s a snake skin print, but hey, they’re pretty similar, right?), I can’t help but draw similarities from this collection and the show. And apparently, I’m not too far off…
Show notes included a synopsis of the designer’s inspiration which included a recent trip to Turkey and an epic scene where “A battlefield emerges with a clash of gunmetal and a flurry of steel…Warrior women are strong, proud and fearless. Ready for battle. Ready for love.” Note that the show also opened to Pat Benatar’s “Love is a Battlefield”, driving the point home even further.
