Although summer might be coming to a wrap, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s time to pack up your swimsuits!
I wear bathing suits all year round and especially in the winter when a warm dip in the jacuzzi is a welcome retreat from the cold weather.
One of my new favorite swimwear designers was introduced to me by the gorgeous, Brazilian model, Maria Helena Vianna. Maria, or ‘MH’ as I like to call her, recently posed in a series of pictures for the Maruska Gemelli Swimwear Campaign and let’s just say she looked beautiful in each of the pieces.
After her campaign was released, I wrote a post on both MH and Maruska Gemelli and as a thank -you, I received a special gift in the mail from the designer herself! (A stunning swimsuit and multi-purpose cover-up)

While MH certainly modeled the swimsuits to perfection in her 2011 campaign, I am happy to say that I feel pretty good wearing my swimsuit as well. This is important because sometimes clothing doesn’t transition well from a model on the runway, or the pages of a magazine, onto the beach, the pool or even just laying out with the girls. The material is so soft and has the perfect hint of shimmer to add a luxurious feel and is super soft against the skin.
I don’t just love this bathing suit, but I also love the cover up that came with it. So much so that I’ve already worn several times. Each time I wear it, I always get asked where I got it.
The raw edges combined with such a unique print and fabric and super low back make this piece a stand out. Also, the material falls in a way that it can easily be paired with shorts, pants, or pulled down long enough to be worn over a bathing suit without pants. It’s a really useful piece of clothing that is light enough to be worn in the hot sun and fit easily into a bag or purse.
Maruska Gemelli’s designs are often inspired by nature, especially the beaches of Brazil. Even the print on this cover-up has the hues of a blue sea and a pattern that forms waves! It has a very care-free and breezy feel to it that makes me feel relaxed when I wear it. It’s incredible how clothes can make you feel a certain way…
This cover-up can also transition into an outfit. I wore this cover-up over a white lace tank and paired it with white pants from CACHE for a dinner cruise I recently took in New York City. To top the outfit off, I added a bright pop of color with a coral handbag and kept the nautical theme with rope braided, espadrilles from Colin Stuart.
