This season, Custo Barcelona presented their new fall winter 2011 collection at the Lincoln Center as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
The innovative show surprised the audience with a clean slate that began with pure lines and neutral colors (a palette of beiges, ecrus and pale pinks). A new approach that conveys its highly sophisticated message through details.
Nevertheless, the true Custo Barcelona essence inevitably emerged in an explosive way: colors, prints and graphics took over the catwalk – creating a graphic colorful composition that transitioned from the minimum to the absolute.
Always a personal favorite, Custo Barcelona captures the free spirit that started as a cross country road trip shared by brothers-turned-fashion-designers, Custo Dalmau and David.
Having shared a similar experience after graduating high school, I also embarked on a cross country road trip and will always associate Custo’s aesthetic with the open road and freedom!
For this season, wool is the hero fabric and all its textures were well represented: felted wool, fringes, wool based graphic jacquards and open and distressed weaves were used to create an effect of light organza.
Warm dresses perfectly paired with graphic leggings and thick voluminous sweaters for men represent the key looks of the fall/winter 2011 season. Please enjoy the photos of Custo Barcelona’s Fall/Winter 2011 Catwalk.
