Yesterday, Los Angeles hosted one of the biggest events of the year, the 64th Annual Emmy Awards! A very talented and fashionable crowd gathered to recognize their peers, dripping in designer gowns, tuxes, and plenty of killer style!
I was looking forward to seeing which of my favorite shows would take home some Emmy’s and I wasn’t disappointed. Game of Thrones cleaned the house with six awards, including Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series, Outstanding Special Visual Effects, Outstanding Art Direction For A Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Costumes For A Series, and Outstanding Makeup For A Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic)!
Modern Family also did well taking home five awards – Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series (Eric Stonestreet, as Cameron Tucker), Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series, and Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series (Julie Bowen, as Claire Dunphy). More after the jump.
Some of my favorite moments from last night’s event centered around the fashion found on the red carpet, the pre-party, and on stage. Below are some recaps of who wore what.
Zooey Deschanel was beautiful in this strapless, icy blue, ball gown by Reem Acra.
Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara wore a beaded teal gown by Zuhair Murad. Although Sofia looks great – like always – her real ‘wow’ moment in this dress is when she turns around…
Bam! I Love how this gown trails and reveals her lower back, this is so sexy! The only complaint I have is that it is a little too ‘mermaid – y’. But, that seems to be the trend now as seen in Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2013 Sea-inspired collection and even in the ‘Angels Aquatic‘ segment of last year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show!
Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland was sweet in this Grecian style gown by Marchesa dress, which she helped design. Sarah accesorized with Brian Atwood heels, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a Judith Leiber bag and wore her hair up in soft curls. I really love the close up detailing of this dress around the shoulders!
I’m not so sure how I feel about the earring – I would have played around with some different colors.
Once Upon A Time’s Ginnifer Goodwin wore a gown by Monique Lhuillier. This dress received mixed reviews in the press, but I really like it since I think it captures the feeling of her show. Once Upon a Time is fairy tale themed and Ginnifer’s character plays the role of Snow White. The dress is from Monique Lhuillier’s Resort 2013 Collection and costs a base of $7,500 (the price goes up with alterations).
Revenge’s Emily Vancamp wore a J. Mendel gown with a tulle neckline from the designer’s Resort 2013 collection. She finished off her look with Van Cleef jewelry, a Judith Leiber clutch, and a soft up-do. I love the delicate bow-tied bracelet on her wrist.
Project Runway’s Klum chose a seafoam-colored gown by Alexandre Vauthier. Heidi looks happy despite all the craziness in the press lately regarding her break-up/divorce from Seal. I’m not a huge fan of the slits in this dress and feel that the fabric around her hips makes her look larger than she actually is. With a few modifications, this dress would have been much more stunning! All that aside, Heidi still looks great!
Modern Family’s Ariel Winter wore a gown by a lesser known designer – L.A. based Katharine Kidd, who recently launched her business in 2010 and opened a boutique in Brentwood.
Katharine Kidd designed a custom gown with full coverage for Ariel Winter after Winter was criticized at last year’s Emmys for wearing a cleavage-baring powder pink gown. (see pic below)
with the major train. She looks like a princess, but not one who is being swallowed by a dress.
Last year’s dress…
Emmy Winner Claire Danes looked radiant in a yellow last night in a Lanvin dress! Preganat and glowing, Daines took home the award for Best Actress for a Drama Series, for her work on Homeland.
Kelly Osbourne attend the 64th Primetime Emmy’s in a purple gown by Zac Posen!
Breaking Bad’s Arron Paul looked dapper in a bow tie and tux and ultra chic next to fiance, Lauren Parsekian. I love Breaking Bad and nearly jumped out of my seat when Arron Paul won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series – I was rooting for him to win!
